The fishing department of Itajaí, together with the health department, carries out actions in fishing industries and the municipality's wharves to promote the well-being of the fishing worker. The Fisheries Director, Rodrigo Silveira personally follows these actions. In an interview Rodrigo spoke about the problem of the prohibition of fishing within the 12 miles of Rio Grande do Sul and the difficulty that the fishing industries have been facing.
